Here I am spilling the beans on all details of why I put myself as an Otaku right on the face of my bio! So here’s a small list of shows I binged watched lately in a very particular order.

Detective Conan

DetectiveConan.pngDetective Conan or Case Closed is about Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective who is attacked by a bunch of criminals who force feed him an experimental type of poison to kill him, but instead it transforms him into a child. Adopting a pseudonym Conan Edogawa (inspired by real-time author Arthur Conan Doyle) and keeping his true identity a secret, he lives with his childhood friend Ran Mori and her father Kogoro Mori. Throughout the series he tag’s along with Mori, a detective by profession himself, and they often compete with each other on cases, Conan winning secretly each time.

The series commenced in 1994 and has a staggering number of episodes so hard to miss, it is still on the running!

Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on titans)

AoT After his hometown is destroyed and his mother is killed, young Eren Yeager vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction. Titans are these giant humanoid structures that appear and start devouring humans for no remorse or reason. Nearly wiped out, they reside within three walls: Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sina, and inside these walls humans lived with uneasy peace for hundreds of years. Through the seasons, Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert and a whole bunch of protagonists set out to avenge the Titans. With 3 amazing seasons and one of the highest ratings any anime has ever had, Shingeki no Kyojin stands tallest on the pedestal in my opinion!

Death Note

DeathNote

In Tokyo, a highly intelligent yet disaffected student named Light Yagami finds the “Death Note”, a mysterious black notebook which can kill anyone by just writing the name of the target on the book as long as the user knows his name and face. After a few successful trials of the Death Note, Yagami is encountered by Shinigami Ryuk, a Japanese God and previous Death Note owner who dropped the notebook into the human world out of boredom. Ryuk, who is invisible to anyone who has not touched the Death Note, is amused by Light’s actions and serves as Light’s companion. In a ruthless desire to kill numerous criminals and convicts to offer justice to the world, Light portrays himself  to the public as “Kira”: a killer who wishes to be feared and beloved by the people. To apprehend “Kira”, the Japanese police appoint an internationally acclaimed detective “L” to catch “Kira”. The finite show of a single season goes primarily to show the battle between Light and L and a bunch of  characters fighting on many sides of the game.

Kaiji

In February 1996, 3 years after graduating from high school and moving to Tokyo to get a job, Kaiji Itō fails to find steady employment due to the country being mired in its first recession since World War II. Depressed, he festers in his apartment, biding his time with cheap pranks, gambling, liquor and cigarettes. Kaiji’s unrelenting misery continues until he is paid an unexpected visit from a loan shark named Yūji Endō who wants to collect an outstanding debt that Kaiji has carelessly co-signed for his former co-worker. Endō gives Kaiji two options – either spend ten years repaying this outstanding debt, or board the gambling ship Espoir for one night to clear the debt. Using a con, Endō pressures Kaiji into accepting the deal, believing he will never come back from the voyage. However Kaiji survives through that and then he follows another quest into Starside Hotel, followed more gambles at a labour camp and another casino, taking you to an emotional, yet gripping 2 seasons.

Doremi Harukaze, a third grade elementary school girl living in the fictional Japanese town of Misora, comes across an esoteric shop known as the Maho-Do (MAHO堂), accidentally discovering that its owner, Majo Rika, is a witch. Due to a curse placed on any witch whose identity is exposed by a human, Majo Rika is transformed into a magical frog. Wanting to return to her original form, Majo Rika makes Doremi her witch apprentice, giving her the ability to cast magic. Feeling guilty for placing that curse on her, Doremi accepts Majo Rika’s offer in hopes of fixing her mistake. In order to become a fully fledged witch capable of turning Majo Rika back into a human, Doremi has to pass nine different witch tests, whilst also keeping her identity a secret from other humans. Doremi is soon joined by her two best friends, Hazuki Fujiwara and Aiko Senoo, and later by her younger sister Pop who all become witch apprentices, helping to run the Maho-Do whilst using magic to help out their friends and families.

Danganronpa

danganronpa.jpg

The series revolves around the elite high school, Hope’s Peak Academy which, every year, selects talented high school students who are in the top of their field. These students are forced into a murder game by a demented teddy bear who claims to be the headmaster of the school and is actually controlled by a psychopathic mastermind. The head lays a rule that a student can graduate from the school and can be set free to the outside world only if he/she murders another student within the confinement without being on suspicion and possibly found guilty in the Class Trials held periodically on various events in the show, for if caught on the other hand would be gloriously sentenced to death.

I am hoping to kill time with the latest anime in store of 2019. Have anything in mind that is not on this list?! (Old or new). Feel free to drop them in the comments and I will check it out!
