Our 8-day tour in Rajasthan covered the beautiful cities of Jaipur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
We started off our journey with Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan; also known as the pink city. On our first 2 days of our tour that we spent in the city, we got to experience the best sunrise and sunsets along the promenade from Jal Mahal till the stretch of Hawa Mahal.
Day 1, 30th December 2018: Chawki Dhani, Jaipur
The only event that figured on the iternary for the day was Chowki Dhani which had so much more than an eye can see and beyond! It is an imitation of a small village exhibiting and celebrating various Rajasthani traditions using caricatures and vivid displays. 🏚💃🏼
The best part of it was the dinner at the end which was a versatile Rajasthani degustation. 🥘🥕🍜
Day 2, 31st December 2018: Jantar Mantar and Amber Fort, Jaipur
One of the 5 Jantar Mantars in India, but the only one which is complete on display is in Jaipur. Jantar means instruments and Mantar means measuring. 🔧🔩 Various means of measuring time, location of pole star and horoscope information were on display in an open, serene garden surrounding. 🌳🎋
City Palace and Amber Fort: Several Jaipur monuments are flanked by beautiful pink colour walls, artistic paintings using natural vegetable colour and plush royal flower gardens as far as the eye can see! 🌷🌻🌿🍂 These walls and palace chambers tell the story of the empire, the kings and their reign, 👑and the history of the royal family. 👨👨👧👧
Day 3, 1st January 2019, Bikaner
We enter Bikaner in the late afternoon, where we visited the National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner. The centre is known for breeding and rearing camels of various species: Bikaneri, Kutchi, Jaisalmeri and Mewadi. They have a museum and a souvenir place of their own which cater to various camel products like milk, skin and hair products. 🐪🤓
Day 4, 2nd January 2019, Bikaner
We enter into the main city of Bikaner where we spot the ancestral private property of the Bikaner Haveli; a World Heritage site which speaks volumes of aesthetic beauty. 🔮 We also visited the Jain Mandir, Laxmi Narayan temple in the proximity and later the Junagarh fort which has a unique history of its own! 🕍 🌟
Day 5, 3rd January 2019: Jaisalmer (To be continued, part 2…)
